A College Budget AC Adventure

This past weekend myself and a couple friends trekked down to AC for a friends B-day. We didn't want to spend the money to go to AC, but knew it meant alot to our friend to show up so.

Even tho I am working I just spent a shit ton on a car and wasn't feeling spending a ton of money on a night I really didn't even want to attend. So I went on a "college budget." My friends, still in school, were actually on that college budget.

First we booked a motel, yes a motel, called the Ascot, which cost us about $100 less then a casino hotel would cost. It was about 100ft from the Tropicana hotel. The room its self wasn't that bad other then the TV didn't work, my bed didn't have a fitted sheet, the bathtub was green, and the other guest all looked like crack heads. My biggest mistake was not brining my own pillow and blanket and having to sleep in the hotels motels stiff white sheets. I felt a bit better in the morning when I saw a truck marked with Laundry deliver sheets into the lobby. The hotel offered us a complimentary "Continental Breakfast"which consisted of a few brand name juices, a coffee machine from the 80s, and a few grocery store bagels. I went to Starbucks instead.

Staying across from the The Tropicana was a huge blessing. They most arguably have the best bar in AC. It is extremely reasonable for any restaurant or bar and has a more chilled and laid back vibe then a crazy club. The bar is called A Dam Good Sports Bar, and that it was. We ate dinner there to start off our night and ordered a $9 bottle of wine and a cinco de mayo feast of nachos, quesadillas, tacos, and French fries. They also offered $5 40's so we vowed to go back later in the night.

After we left Dam Good Sports Bar we went back to our hotel motel and got ready to meet the birthday girl. She was staying at the Atlantic Club so we took a cab there. The cabby was happy to take us a whole 3 blocks for $6 ( we didn't know how close this hotel was until the cab driver home was pissed about wasting a ride on us). These AC cab drivers are thieves.

We said our hellos to the bday girl and decided that the club couldn't handle us right now (like the song) and went back to Dam Good Sports Bar. We got our $5 40s and nursed those for the rest of our night.

We people watched, laughed, danced, and whatnot. Finally Amanda decided to chug her 40 and half of mine ( cause I was drinking it too slow) and we left. We heated up the left overs of our delicious but extremely unhealthy meal from Dam Good, then went to bed.

To end this post, we are extremely proud that each of us spent less then $80 bucks on our night and still had a greay time. I was also up at 9am after only sleeping for 4 ours half bc my internal clock is used to it and half because I couldn't sleep in that skeezy bed for a second longer.

THE END

Some Techy Stuff

For almost 6 months now i've been making "API" links. Until today I fully understand what they are and what they do...so here is a short rundown for the dummies like me.

API stands for application programming interface. In laments terms they are used to take information from somewhere and bring it somewhere else.

Ex. When you allow an app onto your Facebook page, you allow in an API that takes your information and gives it to the publisher of the app for their consumer database.

Well now that I learned something today I can head off to happy hour feeling accomplished!

A j Rose By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet

A j Rose By Any Other Name Would Smell As Sweet is a perfect name for this blog since it's not the name that matters, it's the thing itself.

This blog is my space to write about what I learn in my professional and every day life. And honestly I learn something new everyday! As an example using a san serif text is much more appealing to the eye, which is why I am using one now!
